FAQ

How does one access intuition in psychotherapy?

Somatic interventions in psychotherapy refer to techniques that focus on sensations in the body. These interventions help clients become more aware of their bodily sensations, emotions, and thoughts. Through somatic interventions, clients can learn to regulate their emotions and increase their resilience to stress.

These interventions also help clients access unconscious or implicit knowledge not readily available to conscious awareness. For example, the unconscious is connected to the body, which is connected to intuition.

Intuition is a complex psychological process involving sensory, emotional, and cognitive information integration. Somatic interventions in psychotherapy can increase intuition by enhancing clients' awareness of their bodily sensations and emotions. In addition, by becoming more attuned to their physical experiences, clients can better understand their emotional states and the underlying beliefs and attitudes that drive their behavior.

What are the benefits of intuition?

Intuition is instinctive knowledge that occurs without conscious thought. Trusting each golden nugget of wisdom offers simplicity and motivation to improve daily living. Intuition assists in making better decisions, including selecting a partner, finding purpose, avoiding danger, helping with healing, and many other things.

People with access to their intuitions tend to be more aware of their unconscious motivations/drives, feelings, and thoughts. Studies show that building intuition has a strong correlation with Emotional Intelligence. EI individuals have a deeper understanding of their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others, and are more resilient and optimistic. Other benefits include, but are not limited to: trusting oneself, experiencing more joy instead of living from a place of fear and anxiety, better and quicker decision-making skills, and an overall positive sense of well-being.

How is intuitive psychotherapy different than traditional psychotherapy?

Intuitive psychotherapy is a form of therapy where the practitioner is guided by their own intuition to facilitate the client's healing process. Utilizing the following interventions has been shown to increase the client’s intuition: using the practitioner’s intuition, psychotherapy, somatic psychotherapy, inner child work, and other therapeutic modalities.
